Why Russian banks have become a less attractive employment destination

For some time, the financial sector was one of the most attractive for employment; however, it has now been overcome by the IT, pharmaceutical and entertainment sectors. A large reason for this is the departure of investment banks such as Swedbank, BNP Paribas, BSGV and Barclays, taking with them a significant number of investment transactions into Russia’s financial sector. This has pushed many workers to search out other opportunities, including freelancing and consultancy as well as career paths outside of Russia. Even for employment opportunities within Russia’s financial sector, the attractive conditions that once were are no longer as financial institutions move towards new ideas of management and are offering more KPI-based income solutions rather than guarantees.
