Following a presidential decree on introducing a special management system for the city of Tashkent, residents of Tashkent will have the opportunity to decide how to spend city funds by going to a special online portal. The online portal will allow residents to put forth proposals, vote on which projects the city should fund, monitor revenues and expenditures and communicate with city administrators regarding transportation, landscaping and other infrastructure issues. The portal will also maintain a database and queue of persons wanting to take advantage of affordable housing opportunities in the city. The presidential decree provides that the city will use the portal until the end of the year, at which time it will be evaluated and, if successful, implemented in cities across Uzbekistan.<\/p>\n
