The government of Azerbaijan has announced the development of a national cybersecurity strategy. The strategy, an initiative of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies, envisages setting up a coordinating commission in the field of information security and bringing in the most advanced experience. Once fully-developed, the strategy will help the country be fully-prepared to combat cyber threats, including through the use of preventative measures. A point of emphasis will also be placed on raising the level of knowledge of cyber issues in the country.<\/p>\n

The government has also announced its transition to a new generation of electronic identity cards, which will further increase the level of cybersecurity in the country. The new cards will allow citizens to access e-government services free of charge as citizens will no longer be required to purchase e-signature and authentication certificates.<\/p>\n
