New connected devices arrive on the market almost daily, and privacy and security issues arising from the use of digital products and services regularly feature in the news. Because of this, consumers have become increasingly concerned about the security risks digital products may bring with them. To help solve this, the business standards company BSI is acting as the secretariat for a new ISO Project Committee that is developing a new standard aimed at protecting consumer\u2019s domestic privacy (ISO 23485 Consumer Protection \u2014 Privacy by Design for Consumer Goods and Services). <\/p>\n

Currently, data protection legislation leaves a gap in terms of consumer protection. The task of the new ISO Project Committee is to develop a standard to address product design processes to ensure that good privacy controls are designed into consumer products from the outset and that the security of consumer products is maintained over product lifetimes.<\/p>\n
