From November 2017 through November 2018, the total volume of non-cash payments in the region increased 6.2 times, reaching KZT 31.6 billion and exceeding ATM withdrawals (totaling KZT 29.6 billion) for the first time. The average sum for non-cash payments was KZT 11,971, whereas the average withdrawal amount from ATMs was KZT 47,647.<\/p>\n<p>The city of Almaty still leads in terms of cashless transactions in the country, accounting for 64% of the total volume of non-cash transactions in the country. In fact, Almaty is the only city in Kazakhstan where the volume of non-cash payments by card exceeds the amount of cash withdrawals at ATMs. Online payments are the most popular form of non-cash card payments in the country, accounting for 57% of all non-cash card payments in the country.<\/p>\n<p>The number of payment cards in Kazakhstan amounts to approximately 22.7 million, an increase of 17.9%.
