Are investments made into these solutions always justified? This short overview will get you up-to-date.<\/p>\n<p>Russia:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Leading Russian developers are currently implementing <a href=\"https:\/\/vc.ru\/rt\/98693-rt-bio\">the Unified Biometric System project<\/a>, which is being led by biometric specialists who have strong experience in various international biometric tests and competitions.<\/li>\n<li>In 2019, the Central Bank of Russia initiated t<a href=\"https:\/\/vc.ru\/finance\/81090-rbk-cb-rasschityvaet-ispolzovat-sobrannuyu-sberbankom-i-drugimi-bankami-biometriyu-rossiyan-dlya-sistemy-rostelekoma\">hree key biometric measures<\/a>: (1) using data from financial institutions to create the Unified Biometric System, (2) integrating facial recognition systems into the Quick Payment System and (3) creating a biometric know-your-customer platform.<\/li>\n<li>Russian financial institutions have worked <a href=\"https:\/\/forbes.kz\/process\/banki_rf_gotovyat_revolyutsiyu_v_udalennom_obslujivanii_klientov\/\">to implement biometric solutions<\/a> that will allow them to launch products and services in even the most remote parts of the country. Some customers, however, are upset that some financial institutions are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.ru\/finansy-i-investicii\/378083-klienty-bankov-pozhalovalis-na-trebovaniya-sdat-biometricheskie-dannye\">purportedly illegally compelling<\/a> them submit biometric data.<\/li>\n<li>Alfa Bank has been among the most active in <a href=\"https:\/\/pro.rbc.ru\/demo\/5da5f0219a7947cf3fc1af52\">implementing biometric solutions<\/a>. So much so in fact that the bank has plans to install a biometric identification system at its entrances in order to immediately recognize customers and know what products and services to offer them. At the same time, the bank considers a recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.ru\/finansy-i-investicii\/382081-nedeshevoe-udovolstvie-alfa-bank-pozhalovalsya-na-vpustuyu-potrachennye\">USD 1.5 million investment<\/a> in the collection of biometric data from its customers to be a dubious investment at best.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Kazakhstan:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Kazakhstani company BTS Digital <a href=\"https:\/\/kapital.kz\/finance\/79660\/v-kazakhstane-razrabotali-sistemu-udalennoy-identifikatsii.html\">has developed a remote customer identification system<\/a> (Digital ID) that will allow consumers to obtain loans and access other financial services without having to leave the comfort of their own homes. So far, Alfa Bank, Home Credit Bank, ForteBank and Chocotravel have already connected to the system.<\/li>\n<li>Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan\u2019s capital, is testing <a href=\"https:\/\/forbes.kz\/process\/technologies\/tovar_na_litso_rasplatitsya_za_uslugu_stanet_vozmojnyim_blagodarya_fotografii\/\">the new Face Pay system<\/a> on its public transportation networks. A cooperation agreement for the implementation of the system, which allows public transportation customers to pay using facial recognition technology, has already been signed by Astana LRT, ForteBank and Bus Fleet No. 1.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Belarus:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Three Belarusian financial institutions launched <a href=\"https:\/\/sputnik.by\/economy\/20191023\/1043067426\/Belorusskie-banki-vvodyat-biometricheskuyu-autentifikatsiyu-klientov.html\">a pilot biometric authentication project<\/a> last year.
