Here are the top 4:

The biometrics market will continue to grow. The growth forecasts in the latest set of market analyst reports indicate an increase in the widespread adoption of biometric technologies: 22% for mobile biometrics, 22% for 3D sensors and 19% for healthcare biometrics.

New cybersecurity threats will appear. There’s already a vibrant dark web trade in personalized biometric data that will likely continue to grow in 2020. Some criminals will focus on collecting data from open sources and social media. Others will target (and already have targeted) users in phishing campaigns designed to steal not just static credentials but also selfies and videos of the user’s face.

Deepfake attacks and responses to them will evolve. While an attacker can use deepfake techniques to convincingly emulate the likeness of an individual, it is still difficult to digitally impersonate a voice without fairly obvious imperfections. Additionally, Deepfakes can be convincing to other humans but are typically unable to pass physical or passive biometric verification. Technological developments are likely to keep this balance swinging back and forth for some time.

The concept of a decentralized and self-sovereign identity will become more popular. Consumers will continue to demand power over their personal identity information and the right to share that information how, where and with whom they chose to. The company that figures out how to protect sovereign identity and guarantee that it is only shared with the right parties will have a big advantage going forward.

How startups can survive the FinTech talent drought

Economic Development Ministry opposes making e-signature certification a state process

    Top Cybersecurity Predictions for 2023

A number of companies with biometric, digital identity and cybersecurity space have shared their digital identity predictions for 2020.
