There is a marked lack of FinTech talent available for financial institutions to hire to work directly in their organizations, especially in Southeast Asia. This has become a big challenge as both major and minor players in the financial sector try to keep pace and offer the digital tools and capabilities necessary to meet consumer expectations. The solution? Partner with FinTech companies in order to leverage their talent pools. For example, Thailand’s Bank of Ayudhya has forged relationships with 25 FinTech companies so far and expects to increase that number to 40 in the near future. With FinTech talent limited and giant tech companies lacking the requisite knowledge and experience in the financial world, other financial institutions in Asia are following suit and exploring how partnerships with FinTech companies can be used to maximize efficiencies and optimize consumer experiences.
