Rapid digital transformation has not only hastened the expansion of FinTech in recent years, it has also increased the demand for FinTech skills. Moreover, this demand calls for a convergence of multidisciplinary skills commonly-known as the full-stack quant (i.e. requisite technical skills with a working knowledge of financial concepts and statistics). However, the current talent pool in most FinTech companies lack such understanding, especially complex financial and statistical modules. As such, FinTech companies are on the lookout for candidates who can successfully navigate and integrate concepts from the technical world (e.g. artificial intelligence, machine learning and blockchain technologies) and the financial/statistical world. Given the data-centric nature of FinTech firms, it is only a matter of time before such a combination of knowledge and skills becomes the norm.
