The number of payment cards in circulation in Kazakhstan is on the rise: the number of debit cards has increased 24.3%; the number of credit cards has increased 21.1%; and the number of prepaid and debit cards with limits has increased 18.5%. Moreover, banks in the country are recognizing that the best way to serve customers (and attract and retain them) is to offer new services and technologies to make life easier. As such, 26 of the 32 banks operating in Kazakhstan offer debit cards to customers, most of which also have a cash-back function. 16 of those banks also offer contactless payment cards. Some banks are even starting to increase their physical outreach, with 6 banks now delivering cards to clients instead of making clients come and pick them up at a bank branch.
