Hackathon encourages student participation in business world

A two-day hackathon called #HACKProm was held in December 2018 to encourage 44 students from 8 Russian cities to find solutions to some of the biggest problems facing Gazprom Oil and Sibur. The hackathon is one of a number of attempts to build synergies between the business world and young professionals. In addition to helping the organizations find solutions to the problems they face, the participating students also learned about working as part of a team to accomplish something big and creating a digital profile. Additionally, the hackathon served to break down the stereotypes youth often have about working in a corporate environment.

Organizers of the hackathon are currently considering organizing larger hackathons that will allow a greater number to participate, including the possibility of online and/or remote hackathons.
