100,000 Banking Jobs to Disappear in Next 5 Years

Analysts at Wells Fargo have predicted that over 100,000 banking jobs could be displaced by technology over the next 5 years. This includes approximately two-thirds of back-office jobs and one-third of front-office jobs. Perhaps the bank’s managing director, Mike Mayo, described it best when speaking to Bloomberg TV: “Developers are the new bankers”.
