Big Data, as a concept, has been around for more than 10 years and involves the work of various types of specialists, including IT specialists, programmers, mathematicians, data visualization specialists, data engineers, data analysts and more. In Kyrgyzstan, the training for such specialists is rather limited, even at specialized IT institutions. This means that only partial competencies in Big Data can be obtained within the country. There are, however, a number of online options available to those living in Kyrgyzstan to gain a full understanding of Big Data, many in the Russian language. While not ideal, it is proving to be enough to fill the gap until Kyrgyz institutions develop their own curricula for Big Data-related fields.
