The government of Azerbaijan has completed the integration of an e-mortgage system, the Azerbaijani Mortgage Fund (AMF), into its e-government portal. This means that, as of August 1, 2017, it is possible to apply for a loan online without having to go to a bank in Azerbaijan. An electronic signature is sufficient when applying for mortgages. The new system is expected to facilitate more Azerbaijani citizens in obtaining loans, increase transparency in the allocation of mortgage loans and strengthen the control system of the Fund. The system also aims to minimize the human factor in the process of issuing mortgage credits and reduce the number of required documents. Additionally, the system is expected to boost efficiency in the mortgage process and widen access to mortgage services across all regions of the country.
The Azerbaijani e-government portal was launched in 2013. It offers approximately 400 e-services through 45 government agencies and has over 1 million active users.
