The European Commission intends to finance Azerbaijan’s 2018–2019 projects associated with the “Harmonizing Digital Markets of EU and Eastern Partnership Countries — HDM Initiative”.
The projects will cover six focal points of the HDM Initiative, including e-customs, e-commerce, e-business and e-security. The HDM Initiative is aimed at addressing issues connected with improving customs procedures, creating a legal basis, and implementing trading software. It envisages the creation of a unified digital zone, making it easier for entrepreneurs to conduct trade operations and mutual settlements.
Tofig Babayev, director of the Regional Information Technologies Academy, stated that there are also plans to resolve issues related to the mutual recognition of e-signatures within the e-trade sphere.
